Zippy Race

Zippy Race is a top-down motorcycle racing game on the Sega SG-1000 where you pilot a racer across the United States, starting from Los Angeles and heading to New York via checkpoints in Las Vegas, Houston, St. Louis, and Chicago. Gameplay alternates between overhead view sections with other motorists, cacti, boulders, and sharp turns, and over-the-shoulder view approaching checkpoints showing oncoming traffic to dodge. You control the bike with a directional pad for steering and buttons for acceleration and braking, managing fuel that depletes automatically and from crashes or going off-road; refuel at checkpoints or dropped cans without losing lives. There are no named characters, but the story follows an unnamed racer competing in a 90-racer field where passing others improves your position, culminating in a cross-country race.
