About the Game
Pocket Battle is a strategy/SLG (strategy simulation game) developed by Sigma Ent. Inc. and released for Game Boy in 1992. You play as a feudal lord in a medieval fantasy world, leading a party to expand your territory by conquering adjacent lands against enemy armies and monsters. The game uses a turn-based system with five phases per turn: Event Phase (terrain changes, one-time actions), Supply Phase (buy more troops/items/spells), Deployment, Magic, and Invasion. Victory comes from defeating the enemy lord or having the most valuable land at turn end. There are 10 scenarios and password saving for campaigns. The story is minimal, focusing on land grabbing and conquest. What makes it stand out is its simple yet deep territory-expansion strategy with terrain synergy, character recruitment, event risks, and cute fantasy character designs suitable for handheld play, including potential multiplayer.
