Pocket King

Pocket King is a turn-based strategy RPG on Game Boy Color. You play as Elrick, a boy whose village was destroyed by the Demon Army. He swaps places with Prince Elrick of Krall Kingdom and becomes the de facto king, commanding troops to defeat the Demon Army and save the kingdom. Key characters include Elrick (protagonist), Prince Elrick (initial king), Pukuru (mysterious summoner guide), and party members like Aisha (kind witch), Ryan (gluttonous warrior), Leila (brave Amazoness), Kane (calm knight), and Sion (shy cleric). Gameplay involves summoning units via MP (regenerated by occupying towns), forming parties of up to three for movement and special abilities, capturing towns for resources and events, and strategic battles where units level up, change classes, and die permanently on defeat. It stands out with 150+ monster units for collection, class-changing, dynamic endings based on party order, and deep tactical depth inspired by Ogre Battle, Advance Wars, and Fire Emblem.
