Quarth

Quarth is a puzzle-action hybrid game developed and published by Konami for the Famicom. Players control a spaceship at the bottom of the screen as colorful blocks fall from above, shooting small blocks upward to form squares or rectangles, causing the larger blocks to disappear for points. The goal is to prevent blocks from reaching the bottom line while progressing through stages that get faster and denser. It includes two ships (Quarth and Block Hole), difficulty selection, and a two-player alternating mode. What makes it stand out is its innovative geometric puzzle-shooter mechanic blending Tetris-style building with classic shooter elements, creating tense timing challenges and high-score potential on the Famicom hardware.
