Secret of Evermore

Secret of Evermore is an action RPG for SNES where you play as a teenage boy and his shapeshifting pet dog who are transported from 1960s Podunk, USA, to the fantasy world of Evermore after a lab accident. Explore four historical realms: Prehistoria (dinosaurs, cavemen), Antiqua (pyramids, colosseum), Gothica (medieval castles, dragons), and Omnitopia (futuristic space station). Control the boy or dog with the Select button; switch between them freely. Combat is real-time with charged attacks (swinging builds a gauge for full-power strikes). Weapons include sword, spear, axe, and later bazooka that level up skill 1-3 for new charged moves. Use the Action Ring menu for quick equipment, status checks, and inventory. The unique alchemy system lets you combine ingredients (e.g., wax, clay, limestone in early realms; ethanol, dry ice later) to create spells like Flash—no MP required. The dog can sniff out hidden ingredients on the ground. Haggle in marketplaces using local currencies (talons, gems, coins, credits). Companions include Elizabeth (Prehistoria chief), Horace Highwater (Antiqua curator), Camellia Bluegarden (Gothica queen), and Professor Sidney Ruffleberg with butler Carltron. Story involves defeating robotic clones to rescue the Professor's companions and stop Evermore's instability from Carltron's sabotage. What makes it stand out: hybrid real-world/modern setting with B-movie references, unique alchemy ingredient system, and Switchable boy-dog duo gameplay inspired by but distinct from Secret of Mana.
