About the Game
SOS (known as Septentrion in Japan) is a survival adventure game where players control one of four characters escaping the capsizing ship Lady Crithania. Gameplay involves side-scrolling exploration of the tilting ship with Mode 7 effects, rescuing up to seven survivors by navigating changing paths caused by the vessel's lurches and tilts, with a hidden 60-minute timer that deducts five minutes per injury. The story follows four characters inspired by The Poseidon Adventure: architect Capris Wisher who struggles with his sister Amy; pastor Redwin Gardner with his family; doctor Jeffrey Howell with his wife Adela; and crewman Luke Haines with the ship's map. Characters have unique persuasion abilities and sentimental priorities affecting the best ending. What makes it stand out is its movie-like narrative with metafiction, challenging puzzle-platforming without enemies, and high replayability through multiple endings based on survivor choices and character traits.
