About the Game

Special Forces 2001 (Metal Slug 2001) is an unlicensed run-and-gun shooter/platformer for Game Boy Color, developed and published by BBD. Based on the Neo Geo Pocket Color game Metal Slug 1st Mission with elements from the sequel, players control a squad of soldiers in side-scrolling levels filled with enemies, vehicles, and bosses. Key characters include the protagonist Marco Rossi and squad members Sergeant Tarma Raddington, Kururu, and others. Gameplay features shooting mechanics, power-ups, and wave-based action against hordes. It stands out as a budget portable version of the classic Metal Slug series, bringing the fast-paced 1990s run-and-gun fun to the GBC handheld in a Chinese bootleg release.
