Splatterhouse 2

Splatterhouse 2 is a side-scrolling beat 'em up action game where players control Rick Taylor, the masked warrior who must rescue his girlfriend Jennifer from a cursed mansion after her mysterious disappearance. The player battles through eight two-dimensional levels filled with grotesque monsters, using punches, kicks, jump kicks, slide kicks, and scattered weapons against hordes of evil spirits and demons. Each level ends with a grotesque boss fight, with the Terror Mask (a supernatural Mayan artefact) providing temporary powers. Rick endures nightmares of his past failures and the mask's influence, which tempts him to continue his rampage. What stands out is the extreme gore, blood-splattering visuals, and horror theme inspired by Friday the 13th, though the game features basic controls and repetitive gameplay typical of early 1990s Genesis titles. The game is single-player only.
