About the Game

Star Wars for the Sega Master System is a side-scrolling action-platformer loosely based on the 1977 film. You begin as Luke Skywalker on Tatooine, piloting a landspeeder, collecting R2-D2 from the Sandcrawler, Obi-Wan Kenobi from the cave, and Han Solo from the Mos Eisley cantina while battling Stormtroopers, Tusken Raiders and Jawas. You then control the Millennium Falcon through an asteroid field to reach the Death Star, collecting shields along the way. Gameplay features jump-and-shoot controls (Button 1 for attack, held for run/jump; Button 2 for jump), with three playable characters: Luke (multiple lives, basic blaster), Han Solo (better blaster, one life), and Princess Leia (better blaster, one life). Obi-Wan Kenobi can resurrect them, and C-3PO provides hints. No single-player story mode; it's hub-and-spoke exploration. What stands out is its faithful Star Wars world recreation on 8-bit hardware with character-switching and a hidden level select for replayability.
