Steel Talons

Steel Talons is a combat flight simulation shooter genre. The player pilots the AT1196 Steel Talons attack helicopter, equipped with machine guns, rockets, and up to eight lock-on guided missiles. Gameplay involves piloting across outdoor arenas in 12 missions, using collective pitch to adjust altitude, rudder pedals, and free 360-degree movement (especially in 'real heli mode' for multiplayer). In single-player mode, players must destroy all targets quickly to achieve high 'ace' rankings; slower performance requires replaying the level. Multiplayer offers head-to-head battles against a CPU opponent in best-of sets. The standout feature is its early 3D polygonal environment on the Sega Genesis, replicating the 1991 Atari arcade original with dynamic flight and intense combat.
