About the Game
Steins;Gate (8-bit ADV Steins;Gate) is a retro-styled adventure RPG adapted for Nintendo Switch as a Famicom/NES emulator cartridge. The story centers on high-school student Rintaro Okabe, who assembles the SERN research group with the mad scientist Kurisu Makise and the cheerful Mayuri Shiina. Using a time machine called the Phonewave, they travel back in time to alter events in an attempt to save a friend. Gameplay features text-based dialogue choices, exploration of the cafe setting, and RPG-style progression through branching routes and multiple endings. Characters include the core trio plus supporting students. What makes it stand out is its faithful recreation of 1980s Famicom adventure game aesthetics, complete with pixel art and retro mechanics in a modern port.
