About the Game
Zui You Ji Zhi Tang Sang is a Chinese-developed RPG for Famicom featuring an original take on Journey to the West. Players control the Tang Sanzang (Tang Sanzang), a young, hot-tempered Tang Sanzang, alongside Sun Wukong (Sun Wukong), Zhu Bajie (Zhu Bajie), and Sha Wujing. The story follows a world of chaos where humans and monsters coexist in Taoyuan Township; a sudden disaster and terrifying attacks threaten the land. Tang Sanzang uses his powerful scriptures (Jingwen) and magic to battle monsters and restore balance while protecting the group. Key mechanics include turn-based RPG combat, scripture abilities, and exploration of chaotic territories. What stands out is the unique blend of classic West Journey characters in a modern chaotic fantasy setting with dynamic battles and moral themes of self-reliance.
