The Legend of Heroes IV: A Tear of Vermilion

The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion is a single-player role-playing adventure game set in the El Phildin continent. Players control Avin, a 17-year-old impulsive swordsman and black mage, and his childhood friend Mile, an 18-year-old thoughtful white-mage wielder of throwing knives, as they travel the land seeking Avin's lost sister Eimelle after their separation during the attack on the Cathedral. The story unfolds across three chapters with a large cast including Rutice (initially an enemy), Lucias the Sapphire-Eyed swordswoman, Douglas the Wind-Style swordsman, Muse the whip-wielding royal, and the sages Gawain and Lemuras. Gameplay features traditional turn-based RPG combat with spell usage and equipment from the series, town exploration, side quests, and deep character interactions. It stands out for its emotional story, memorable characters, and world-building in the Gagharv Trilogy.
