About the Game

Vortex is a 3D shooter where you pilot the Morphing Battle System (MBS) mecha through the Interdimensional Vortex to recover the AI Core segments from the evil Aki-Do Forces. Gameplay involves transforming the MBS between four modes: Walker (melee combat, jumping, object pickup), Sonic Jet (aerial dogfighting), Land Burner (ground traversal), and Hard Shell (defensive tanking). There are single-player stages, weapons tests, and navigation challenges across planetary systems. The story follows an unnamed pilot saving the Deoberon system from alien invaders. Characters include the MBS robot and the Aki-Do Forces enemies. What stands out is the innovative Super FX-powered 3D morphing mechanics unique to the SNES library.
