Chaos World

Chaos World is an RPG on the Famicom where you create a protagonist from one of seven classes (Fighter, Knight, Thief, Mage, Priest, Shaman, Bishop) with gender variants and basic stats. Combat is automated—select tactics for your party of up to four while the rest handle guild jobs and training. Day/night cycles affect gameplay and NPC schedules, with automatic battles and exploration. Story follows a kingdom's princess who falls ill; an ancient cult called Ideia begins manipulating minds and causing disasters, framing the player for murder. Recruit adventurers from guilds across towns to join your party and complete jobs. Standout features include the guild system for jobs and recruitment (inspired by later games like Final Fantasy Tactics), a deep single-player storyline with prophecy and MacGuffin elements, and a cult conspiracy twist ending on a darker note. With 14 total playable characters and 20 hours of content, it feels ahead of its time for its day/night cycle and party management.
