About the Game
Doom on SNES is a first-person shooter where the player controls an unnamed space marine in a campaign of 22 levels across three episodes fighting invading demons and undead in hellish environments. The gameplay features intense action with pickups like the BFG9000, super shotgun, and rocket launcher, using fast-paced movement, strafing, and combat against hordes of enemies. There is no save system or backup, requiring players to complete each episode fully. Multiplayer deathmatch is available via XBAND modem. Story is conveyed through in-game environments, ammo magazines, and terminal messages. What stands out is the technical achievement of porting the original PC game to SNES hardware using Super FX chip, with pixelated distant enemies, simplified enemy AI (no infighting), and custom SNES sound arrangements despite frame rate limitations around 10-20 fps.
