About the Game

Empire of Steel (known as Steel Empire) is a horizontally scrolling shooter set in a steampunk alternate late-19th century. Players control a Silverhead pilot from the Republic of Silverhead fighting the Motorhead Empire led by General Styron. Gameplay involves choosing one of two aircraft classes per mission and flying a linear path, firing forward or backward. Core mechanics include power-ups for firepower, heat-seeking missiles, repair drones, extra lives, speed boosts, and the rare Imamio Thunder lightning bomb (vertically fired upward, causing lightning rain on conductive enemies). Enemies drop experience points; every three power-ups increase firepower level up to 20. Stages feature A and B sections. Story follows mission objectives: retaking Rahl, exploring Liedengel caverns, assaulting Gardandi Islands, entering Damd, and battling in Germburn Fortress and space over the moon. What makes it stand out is its unique low-tech steampunk designs with propeller planes, dirigibles, steam trains, and diesel-punk aesthetic, plus innovative multi-directional firing and powerful lightning bomb. Single-player mode with continues.
