About the Game
Gaia Gensouki (Illusion of Gaia) is an action RPG on SNES where players control the young hero Will through a fantasy Earth reimagining real-world ruins. The story follows Will, a survivor of an explorer expedition, as he must stop a comet carrying an ancient evil threatening the world. Will transforms into three forms: the flute-using Will, the sword-wielding knight Freedan, and the energy entity Shadow, each with unique abilities and combat styles. Gameplay features real-time melee combat with health bars shown as red spheres, jewel-based stat upgrades earned by clearing rooms, limited healing items, save points in Dark Spaces, and puzzle-like exploration without traditional experience points or equipment systems. What makes it stand out is its deep story set against historical fantasy sites like the Great Pyramid and Angkor Wat, innovative character transformations, and Zelda-like world exploration with multiple playable personas.
