Great Battle IV, The

The Great Battle IV is an action-platformer and top-down shooter game in the Compati Hero series where players control one of four hero characters to defeat enemies and rescue Dr. Kisaburo. Gameplay involves side-scrolling levels and top-down sections where you switch between characters on the fly using X to select and A to switch, with unique weapons: Ultraman's bazooka, Gundam's grenade launcher and hover, Kamen Rider's whip, and Roar's boomerang; mechanics include jumping, aiming down while jumping, charging attacks, and coin collection for power-ups. Characters are Ultraman, Gundam (Cowboy Burning), Kamen Rider RX, and Fighter Roar. The story follows Battle Force against the Emperor Overlord's forces in a crossover of mecha, tokusatsu, and Rider elements. What stands out is the tight responsive controls, character variety, freedom to choose levels, and heavy fan service to Bandai franchises on the SNES.
