About the Game

Guerrilla War is an overhead run-and-gun action shooter for the NES/Famicom. Players command rebel commandos on a tropical island raid against a tyrannical dictator, moving and firing in eight directions while collecting weapons and rescuing hostages. Key mechanics include endless continues, simultaneous two-player co-op, and tank operations. The story follows the unnamed rebels (Che Guevara and Fidel Castro in the Japanese version) overthrowing the regime with score deductions for hostage deaths. Characters are the rebel fighters themselves. It stands out for its frantic, accessible co-op gameplay and better home-port adaptation compared to the arcade original, with perfect reviews in retro guides.
