About the Game
Land of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is a side-scrolling platform game for the Game Gear. Player controls Mickey Mouse, the main character, in 14 levels across themed areas like the Forest, Lake, and Phantom's Castle. Mickey throws picked-up items such as stone blocks at enemies or jumps at them in a sitting pose, with abilities like rope climbing and shrinking gained from collectibles. Power stars provide health, with 14 stars total granting extras on completion. Story follows Mickey awakening in a village where Daisy Duck begs him to retrieve the stolen magical crystal from the evil Phantom before happiness returns. Minnie Mouse is the princess, Donald Duck the king, and Goofy a villager. What stands out is the item-based progression system allowing backtracking to new areas, cute Disney animations, and a self-contained fairy-tale adventure with no direct links to prior entries.
