Magical Puzzle Popils

Magical Puzzle Popils is a single-player stage-based puzzle-platform game for the Sega Game Gear. The player controls a Boy who must rescue the Princess from the evil wizard Popils by reaching her in each of the 100 rounds. Gameplay centers on destroying blocks so that columns above them fall and create new paths, while avoiding enemies (slimes and vampires), spikes, and using ladders and warp doors. The Boy moves left or right, climbs ladders, and attacks by punching, kicking, or headbutting blocks. Each round is completed in the fewest steps possible (counting walking/climbing and each attack as one step). There is a stage select with hints, battery-backed saves, a map editor for custom levels (up to 30), and Gear-to-Gear multiplayer. Perfect completion gives an 'IQ' score and unlocks an alternative ending plus a secret Round 0. It stands out for its clever, foresight-based puzzles, non-scrolling fixed-screen levels, and replayability for beating the mapper's step counts.
