Shining Force II - The Sword of Hajya

Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya (known in Japan as Shining Force Gaiden II: Jashin no Mezame) is a turn-based tactical RPG. The player leads a small force of young soldiers from the army of Cypress defending the Sword of Hajya, a powerful artifact whose wielder's arm was turned to stone. Gameplay involves deploying units on tactical maps in real-time battles, where each character has unique stats, weapons, and spells. After each encounter, the party can promote characters, resurrect the fallen, and purchase items. The story is set two months after the original Shining Force Gaiden: Prince Nick of Cypress has left to fight Iom without the Sword due to his arm being petrified; Mayfair takes command of the remaining soldiers as Iom invaders seize the sword and attack the castle. Deanna and his companions, along with allies like Eric, Dawn, and Claude, must pursue the enemy to reclaim the sword. What makes it stand out is its faithful adaptation of the classic Shining Force mechanics to the portable Game Gear format, including character growth, formation tactics, and a compelling narrative continuation in the Shining series.
