Double Dragon - Sou Setsu Ryuu

Double Dragon - Sou Setsu Ryuu (also known as the original Double Dragon) is a classic side-scrolling beat-'em-up for the NES/Famicom. Players control Billy and Jimmy Lee, twin brothers trained in the Sou-Setsu-Ryu martial art, as they hunt down the Shadow Boss who kidnapped Billy's girlfriend Marian. Gameplay features side-scrolling levels with punch, kick, throw, grab, and aerial attacks, plus weapons like knives, whips, bats, rocks, oil drums, and dynamite collected from the ground. Up to two players can cooperate, with the story involving missions through slums, factories, and wooded areas ending in confrontation with the Shadow Boss (revealed as Jimmy in some versions). It stands out for pioneering the co-op beat-'em-up genre, its intense street-level action, brutal enemy waves, and the iconic Sou-Setsu-Ryu fighting style that defines the series.
