About the Game
Down the World - Mervil's Ambition is a role-playing game where you play as the player character, the hero in a fantasy realm with eight lower worlds. Explore top-down maps, dungeons, and towns while recruiting party members and completing quests. Battles use the Active Formation Battle (AFB) system on isometric grids, with automated turn-based actions based on chosen formations (melee, magic, defend, heal). Your companion Gao has auto-revive abilities up to six times. The story follows Gao and the player rescuing Princess Sara from the evil sorcerer Mervil. It stands out for its meta narrative breaking the fourth wall, unique auto-navigation, and early PCM voice acting.
