About the Game
Whomp 'Em (Saiyūki World 2: Tenjōkai no Majin) is a platformer for NES/Famicom where the player controls Sun Wukong (the Monkey King) in side-scrolling stages themed around different elements like fire, water, and earth. Gaining new weapons such as the Nyoi-bō staff after each level, players navigate towers, climb cliffs using totems, and battle bosses. The story follows the classic Journey to the West tale of the Monkey King's adventures against heavenly spirits and demons. Key characters include Sun Wukong with his shape-shifting and magical staff. What makes it stand out is its Mega Man-style weapon progression and boss fights, blending action-platforming with its source material.
