About the Game

Monster Party is a side-scrolling action-platformer released in 1989. Players control Mark, a boy heading home from baseball, who meets alien Bert (Value) and helps rid his Dark World of evil monsters. Gameplay involves running, jumping, crouching, and swinging a bat; timing allows bat deflection for damage. Collect power-ups to turn into Bert for flight and laser shooting. Features various stages and bosses with a quirky story. What makes it stand out is its humorous and absurd humor, including Japanese folklore-inspired elements, making it one of the most eccentric NES titles.
