Ninja Burai Densetsu

Ninja Burai Densetsu for Mega Drive is a strategy/RPG developed by Sanritsu Denki and published by Sega, released exclusively in Japan on December 5, 1991. Players command a team of up to 10+ ninjas, samurais, archers, riflemen, and healers in turn-based battles on small-to-medium maps with terrain bonuses, using a standard XP level system and one weapon plus one armor per character. All characters fight automatically once selected. The story is basic: train a half-Japanese half-English protagonist ninja to rescue lord's daughter Yayoi from warlord Oda Nobunaga, who is possessed by demonic energy from a sword. Between battles, move ninjas to special spaces for side-scrolling town stages where townsfolk offer helpful items. The game stands out for its unique side-scrolling overworld integration into classic turn-based strategy gameplay.
