About the Game
Gemfire (known as Royal Blood in Japan) is a turn-based strategy RPG on the Mega Drive where players choose one noble house and aim to conquer the entire fictional Isle of Ishmeria through war, diplomacy, and economy management. Gameplay features a main tactics screen for monthly actions like troop hiring, province upgrades, plundering, or alliances, plus turn-based battles where you command up to five units including archers, knights, horsemen, wizards, or special units like dragons. Story follows Princess Robyn seizing the Gemfire crown from tyrannical King Eselred, scattering the six wizard gems into loyal houses (including Prince Erin of House Blanche with Emerald Wizard and Prince Ander of House Lyle with Sapphire Wizard), and the player restoring peace by claiming the throne. Characters are noble rulers and powerful wizards who support your house. It stands out with its fantasy European-inspired setting, dragon units, and Koei-style officer portraits and events.
