About the Game
Shooting Range is a light gun shooter developed by TOSE and published by Bandai for the NES. It features themed mini-game stages resembling the Old West (except for a moon level), carnival, and saloon where the player uses the NES Zapper to aim and shoot red and white pinwheel targets attached to characters' heads for points while watching energy levels. Gameplay includes normal mode over four stages with increasing difficulty and score goals (e.g., 5000 points for first level), plus a bonus bottle-shooting round and moon stage; D-pad adjusts range/view while Zapper handles aiming/shooting, with energy depletion on misses and special spots for bonus points/health. There is no single story but progression through Western, ghost house, and space themes. It stands out as an accessible early light gun title emphasizing quick reflexes, accuracy, and the unique Zapper mechanic for fun target practice with cartoonish characters and colorful Old West/sci-fi visuals.
