Ultima IV - Quest Of The Avatar

Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar is a classic RPG where you create your own custom character (the Avatar) who is sucked into a magical world and must lead a virtuous life to defeat evil. Gameplay includes exploring the large overworld map of Britannia, solving puzzles in dungeons, managing a party of up to 8 characters, and using turn-based combat with magic and weapons on a grid. You must achieve all 8 virtues (Honesty, Compassion, Valor, Justice, Sacrifice, Honor, Spirituality, Humility) or fail the game. The story involves saving the world from evil forces, with unique non-player characters and a moral dilemma at its core. The Sega Master System version (1990) is a faithful port with simplified conversation menus, top-down dungeons, and re-drawn graphics. What makes it stand out is its groundbreaking ethical choices and emphasis on player virtue over combat alone.
