About the Game

Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure is an action-platformer where players control Pitfall Harry Jr. in side-scrolling levels filled with jungles, ruins, and temples. The story follows Harry Jr. as he rescues his father Pitfall Harry from the evil spirit Zakelua, Lord of Evil, while searching for lost Mayan treasure. Gameplay features running, jumping, climbing vines, swinging on ropes, and using a slingshot for stones, boomerangs, and explosives. Enemies are defeated by whip, sling stones, or boomerangs; the game includes multiple paths, secrets, and boss fights like against Zakelua at the Temple of Tikal. It stands out for fluid hand-drawn animations by Kroyer Films, large non-linear stages, and a mix of platforming with action elements reminiscent of Aladdin.
