Prince of Persia 2 - The Shadow & the Flame

Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame is an action-adventure platformer for the SNES where players control the Prince in a cinematic tale set eleven days after the first game. The Prince returns to medieval Persia to claim the Princess's hand in marriage, only to discover Jaffar has usurped the throne, assumed the Prince's appearance, and placed the Princess under a gradual death spell. Gameplay involves running, jumping, crawling, avoiding traps, solving puzzles, and fighting up to four enemies simultaneously who can flank or be replaced by reinforcements upon death. Lives are unlimited but the game features a strict real-time timer of 75 minutes that cannot be regained except by reloading a save, adding high tension to every platforming section. Graphics are more detailed with larger, varied levels and backdrops compared to the original, while the story incorporates visions, magic carpets, and a climactic confrontation with Jaffar using the Shadow and Flame. What makes it stand out is its enhanced combat, cinematic scope, and challenging puzzles that demand precision and timing.
