Immortal, The

The Immortal is an isometric action-adventure RPG on the Sega Genesis where players control a wizard searching for his lost mentor Mordamir in the dangerous Labyrinth of Eternity. Gameplay involves navigating labyrinthine levels filled with puzzles, deadly traps, and enemies using an inventory of over 20 weapons, spells, and items; combat is real-time with gory, detailed death animations and brutal violence. There are no specific party members or classes, just one customizable hero with a focus on exploration and resource management. What sets it apart is its pioneering dark fantasy atmosphere, innovative isometric view, challenging difficulty, and graphic violence that influenced later dungeon-crawlers like Diablo, all packed into a tiny 1MB cartridge.
